Visualising your Twitter personality

Posted on July 19, 2019July 19, 2019

Who you follow on Twitter can say a lot about you and with a bit of R and Gephi, can look quite pretty too.

Here’s my network (who I follow, not who follows me), clustered into communities by Gephi, based on the similarity of each account’s own followers.

It works pretty well to profile my interests; lots of news – especially politics – and a big chunk of advertising land, plus tech and data visualisation, football analysis and a little local community for Leeds.

Want one? I might post a tutorial, but if you could use one as a huge conference poster or for a business presentation, do get in touch. They’re fairly quick to do – most of the time needed is in waiting for Twitter’s throttled API to send all of the network data and you can have any colour scheme or labels that you like.
